Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has claimed that his team has a “awful” run of fixtures in January, including league matches against Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Wolves.
City also plays Chelsea in the FA Cup and Southampton in the Carabao Cup, with Guardiola’s side facing six fixtures in 18 days.
In the Premier League, Arsenal holds an eight-point lead over the champions.
City is away to Leeds on Wednesday night, with City sitting in third place having been overtaken by Newcastle.
“We have Leeds and then it’s non-stop. Our schedule in January is terrible in terms of the number of games and the quality of the opponents.
“So, we have to restart. This is what we did against Liverpool [in the Carabao Cup] and hopefully, we can continue,” Guardiola said.
